Ruby Gemstone Spotlight
Ruby is the featured gem of this Gemstone Spotlight episode, as our hosts Jay Boyle and Shelly Sergent share how special this red corundum is. Throughout its history, ruby has been the most important gemstone in India; because of this, the ruby is called the ratnaraj, the 'king of gems'. While ruby is known for its radiant red color, it can display secondary hues of pinks or violets due to its country of origin. Although rubies don't necessarily grow in large crystals, they can be far more expensive than diamonds. This is because rubies are tens of thousands of times rarer than diamonds and have their own mystical beauty.
