Other valuable species of garnet are tsavorite and color-changing garnets. Demantoid, like tsavorite, has a deep rich green hue often mistaken for emerald. This form of garnet is extremely scarce! Demantoid garnet's name is derived from the old german word "demant," meaning "diamond-like," because its luster and fire dispersion are higher than diamond!
