All About Kyanite | Gemstone Facts + Science
On today's unboxing, we're checking out kyanite, a unique blue stone with strange physical properties. Kyanite is aluminum silicate and a recent gemstone discovery after being found in Nepal in the late 1990s. The orange variety of kyanite is found and mined in Tanzania. This gemstone comes in various colors, including blue, orange, green, and more! Kyanite's blue color from titanium and iron (sometimes chromium). Kaynite's hardness changes depending on the direction being tested; it ranks 4.5-7 on the Mohs hardness scale. Brazil is a common origin for blue kyanite, but it is also found in the United States and across the globe. Gemologist Rebecca will show off a wide different variety of kyanite.
